What: Plated dinner (see menu choices below) and the show “The Wiz: The Super Soul Musical”
When: Saturday, April 2nd at 6 PM
Where: Alhambra Dinner Theater, 12000 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32246
Dinner is served 6:00 – 7:30 and the show begins at 8:00 PM. This invitation is open to the first chapter members in good standing who RSVP on or before March 15th to Anthony Hughart at AHughart@totemaritime.com.
Show Synopsis:
“The Wiz: The Super Soul Musical” is a glorious musical retelling of Frank Baum’s “Wonderful Wizard of Oz” set in the context of African-American culture. With an infectious funky soul score and lyrics by Charlie Smalls, The Wiz brought renewed relevance to a timeless classic. The 1975 Broadway production was like nothing Broadway had ever seen, and ultimately won seven Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Score.
Dinner Menu
First Course - choice of:
Pimento Cheese Plate with spicy pickles and butter crackers *GF* without crackers
Fried Green Tomatoes with crumbled goat cheese, tomato, cilantro and smoked datil pepper ranch
Second Course - choice of:
Southern-Style Fried Pork Chop with white barbecue sauce, chopped pickles, macaroni & cheese-inspired risotto and field peas
Braised Boneless Beef Short-Ribs with southern-style potato salad and shaved Brussels sprouts *GF* without crust
Spicy Shrimp and Grits with smoked sausage and sweet peas
Wild Mushroom, Artichoke and Tomato Farro with vegetable broth
Third Course - choice of:
Purple Sweet Potato Pie with candied pecans and whipped cream
Pistachio Cake
